The Distractions are a eight-piece dance band featuring both male and female vocals, as well as three horns. The band prides itself on being one of New Orleans best dance and party bands, playing 70-80's funk and disco, old school R&B, pop, rock, and other party favorites. Fronted by vocalist Melissa McGregor and vocalist/drummer R.L. Marix, the band's vocals are one of its most impressive features since all members (except the horns) sing background and harmony. The rhythm is provided by bassist Chaz Robert, with Scotty McGregor on guitar and Chet Delatte on keyboards. The Distractions' brass consists of Herb Borne on the saxophone, Chris Krueger on the trumpet and Chris Piekos on Trombone, giving the band that full sound only horns can provide. Equally at home in a live music club, private party, or a wedding, as anyone who has ever seen The Distractions can attest, it is impossible not to dance when they take the stage.
